A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM WHO TOOK FIRST PLACE AT THE REGIONAL COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND! The team was led by Captain Ciera Benefield and Manager Muhammad Zahid as they competed against dozens of teams from our region at Lenoir Community College on Saturday. Kyle Wu and Victor Ariton placed 2nd in Amazing Mechatronics, Tatum Kellum and Ciera Benefield placed 3rd in Anatomy, Kyle Wu, Kevin Lin and Ciera Benefield placed 1st in Codebusters, Marianna Cota and Felimon Holland placed 3rd in Helicopters, Ariel Garcia and Felimon Holland placed 5th in Hovercraft, Ariel Garcia and Nick Marr placed 2nd in Mousetrap Vehicle, Victor Ariton and Muhammad Zahid placed 4th in Materials Science, Marianna Cota and Tatum Kellum placed 1st in Microbe Mission, Laurel Kellum and Kevin Hoang placed 3rd in Optics, Nick Marr and Alayna Santiago placed 1st in Ping Pong parachute, Scott Miller and Victor Ariton placed 1st in Remote Sensing, Scott Miller and Justin Bautista placed 1st in Astronomy, and Kiara Horne and Kaitlynn Nguyen placed 1st in Mission Impossible with their incredible support team. A special shout out to the awesome support team and our new Olympiad team members! We are SO PROUD of you guys! Best of luck at the STATE COMPETITION!
There will be a planning meeting to prepare for the Science Olympiad State competition after school this Thursday, February 15th from 230-315pm in room 604.
Our next Key Club meeting will take place this Thursday, February 15th in room 604. 9th and 12th graders will meet during Power Hour A, 10th and 11th graders will meet during Power Hour B.
Attention soccer and art lovers or anyone wishing to visit London and Paris in the summer of 2019! There will be a meeting at 6pm today in the art room to go over over our itinerary and costs. Soccer players will train for two days with English premier league coaches and tour Wembley Stadium. Other travelers will spend two days visiting the sights and museums of London. Then it's off to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum. You will have about 16 months to pay for the trip and lots of fundraising opportunities! See Mrs Gant in room 901 for the handout for tonight's meeting!
Good morning Staff and Students, listen up because the yearbook team has a special offer for you... Any yearbook ordered by next Monday, February 19th will include a plaque with your name on the cover free of charge. Stop by room 323 during power hour or go to onlinepay.lifetouch.com to order your yearbook today. They are $75, payable by cash or check made out to Northside High School. Make sure to pre-order your book before they are delivered the week of Prom! There will not be extra books available for post-delivery sales this year. Don't miss out!
Attention all Seniors! Cap and Gown pictures will be taken Wednesday, Feb. 28th. Caps and gowns will be provided by the photographer. You will be called down to the auditorium lobby by last name, early release students going first. You will not be released from class unless you have your $10 sitting fee to show your teacher. You may pay cash or check made out to Northside High School. You do NOT need to sign up ahead of time or pre-pay to have your picture taken. Please see Ms. Bigelow in room 323 if you have any questions.
Have you been a member of band, orchestra, chorus, guard, dance, or art for all four years of your high school career? You deserve some recognition! Please report to room 323 during power hour to be included in a special feature in the yearbook. Have you played the same sport all four years? If so, please report to Tamia Lawrence or Ms. Bigelow at your earliest convenience. All names must be submitted and verified by coaches by this Friday.

Softball workouts will be at 2:45 today at the field.
To all History Honor Society students, our spring field trip has been scheduled. The date is March 17 and we will tour Fort Macon and the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. The cost is $15, students are responsible for their own lunch and tickets at the Aquarium. Go to one notes and reserves your space.

Attention, First & Second Semester JROTC Cadets! The 2018 JROTC Military Ball will be held on Saturday, February 24th at 6:00 pm. Tickets will be sold in the cafeteria and the Commons Area during power hour. Tickets will be $12 for individuals and $15 for couples. Sign-ups for set up and clean-up will be available in the JROTC room.
Girls Lacrosse tryouts will be on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, @2:45pm, on the football practice field. Any questions go see Coach Harris.
Congratulations to Urraca Alejandria who placed 4th in the High Jump at the Indoor State Track meet this past weekend.
