Pirates’ boys, girls win county CxC

Swansboro ran away with the Onslow County cross country championship at Northeaster Creek Park with the Pirates claiming four of the top five spots in the boys’ race and four of the top nine in the girls, including first place in both.

Liam Anderson finished first in the boys’ race Saturday in 17 minutes, 13 seconds while Swansboro teammate John Hasteadt was second in 17:21. Both are juniors.

Junior Paige Horvath won the girls’ meet in 19:51 while her Pirate teammate Alyssa Koscierzynski was fourth in 20:45.

The Pirates won the boys’ meet by 32 points over White Oak while Swansboro claimed the girls’ title by nine points over the Vikings.
