Dixon soccer wins 6-0, still unbeaten in ECC

BEULAVILLE — Dixon remains unbeaten in East Central 2-A Conference girls’ soccer action.

With five different players assisting five different players who scored, the Bulldogs defeated East Duplin 6-0, with Brittany Silance scoring 2 goals and adding an assist to lead the way.

“It’s nice when everybody contributes,” Dixon coach Josh King said. “We’re an unselfish team. I like that trait.”

The Bulldogs (15-2-1) are 7-0 in the league while Southwest (12-3-3) is in second at 6-1-1 followed by Croatan (7-7-2) at 5-1-1. The Stallions visit Croatan on Thursday while after playing host to North Brunswick on Friday the Bulldogs close out the regular season at Southwest on Tuesday and then is at home against Croatan on Friday.

Dixon beat SWO 3-0 and Croatan 1-0 earlier in the season.

“We’re trying to back from the injury bug. We had that jump up on us a little bit,” King said. “We’re playing good soccer, not great soccer. We still see there’s still room for us to get better. The girls see that. ... Right about now is when you want to start reaching your top level of play. If we can do that and carry that through, it could be an exciting next few weeks.”
