Onslow Cup wrestling cancelled
The annual Onslow County Cup wrestling tournament has been cancelled.
Northside assistant athletic director Jeff Cobb had been working with the eight area high school coaches to try to reschedule the one-day tournament, which had been scheduled for this past Saturday. But Cobb and the coaches were unable to come up with another date, prompting the cancellation.
Swansboro was seeking a record third straight title while Jacksonville senior Blaine Mainz was looking to become the first wrestler to win four straight titles since the tournament was reconfigured in 2002 to include only the county’s eight high schools.
