For the First Time In NHS Football History...The #6 Monarchs played in a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game facing powerhouse #1 Shelby at NC State University on Saturday Dec 17th, Kick-Off 11:05 am.

Northside is a newcomer to the state finals while Shelby has not only won a title the last three seasons but has eight championships in 12 trips to the finals. The East No. 6 Monarchs are also the lowest-seeded team among the 16 playing for a crown Friday and Saturday while Shelby is seeded No. 1 in the West.

The East teams will be the home squads in all eight state finals and will wear dark jerseys. Presale tickets can be purchased at Northside for $9 while admittance at the gate is $10. The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable channel 323 and broadcasted on our own Monarch Radio Station WAVQ 95.5. (some info contributed by JDNews Prep Writer Chris Miller)
