There are probably not too many Monarch athletes, parents, teachers, administrators who have heard of Jerry McGee...probably not too many of our younger coaches either BUT then ask the veteran coaches and Athletic Directors and they will probably share what a positive impact this man had on NC high school athletics with his influence and leadership.

Coach/AD Jerry changed the culture of NC high school athletics with his 25 year leadership of the NC High School Athletic Association (NCADA). He provided training to make ADs more knowledgeable so they in turn could go home and be a positive influence for their athletic programs, school and community.  He put the NCADA as possibly the leader and #1 example in the country!

Jerry was honored for his leadership and vision by being presented almost every award for excellence from national organizations (NFHS & NIAAA) as well as his state of NC (NCHSAA, NCADA, Duke Univ, Governor) and his hometown of Elizabeth City. He was a  LEGEND!

Jerry was so respected and loved by all...when he spoke, people listened to his wisdom. He was such a friend to so many and he will be greatly missed...but all of his footprints will remain making high school athletics better...
