"JUST IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW"...Many are not aware of the close 2001 "bond" created between Ashley (4A) and Northside (then 2A with no Sr class) as both first opened their doors in 2001 and played one of their first football games against each other; which was shortened by lightning & a reschedule during the Labor Day holiday!
Ashley High should also have another "bond" with our military community as the school is named in HONOR of SGT EUGENE ASHLEY, JR, USA, who was Killed In Action (KIA) during the Battle Of Lang Vei during the Vietnam War. Sgt Ashley's bravery earned him The Congressional Medal Of Honor. The 37 year old Sgt was a native of Wilmington.
