Dixon wins Onslow County Cup

SWANSBORO – Behind four individual champions, Dixon won the Onslow County Cup wrestling tournament Saturday at Swansboro High.

The Bulldogs also had four second-place finishers and one third place en route to ending with 169 points.

Swansboro was second with 127, followed by Southwest (119), Richlands (112), Lejeune (91), White Oak (67), Northside (64) and Jacksonville (53).

Dixon’s individual champions were: Keagan Bolman at 120, Corbin Pugh at 132, Kamren Stewart at 145 and Andrew Edens at 182.

Bolman pinned Jacksonville’s Eric Alegre in 1:52 in the final. Pugh topped Swansboro’s Gavin Fitzgerald 8-7 in his final while Stewart defeated Lejeune’s Keegan McDonough 6-3 to win the championship and Edens won his title with a pin in 1:41 over Swansboro’s Triston Gee.

Swansboro had four individual champions.

Kaleb Kemp won the 113 championship with a 4-3 victory over Lejeune’s Erik Guzman, River Carroll won the 152 title with a 7-1 victory over Dixon’s Kyle Stewart, Christian Smith captured the 195 crown with a 6-4 victory over Southwest’s Carlos Lopez and Hunter Westerberg won the heavyweight title with an 8-3 win over Northside’s Dawson Leiser in the final.

Meanwhile, Southwest had a pair of champions.

Erik Hrudka was the 138 winner by defeating Swansboro’s Michel Leandre 7-1 in the championship bout while Tyler Profitt won the 170 title with a forfeit win over Dixon’s Richard Sharpe win the final.

Four other wrestlers won championships.

Lejeune’s Stephen Mainz won the 106 crown with a pin in 5:46 over Richlands’ Colin Rock in the final, Northside’s Naiyiem Kelly won the 126 final over Dixon’s Ethan Millis with a 10-8 overtime victory, Richlands’ Tyler Wargo won the 160 final with a pin in 1:53 over Dixon’s Joshua McMichael and White Oak’s Quaheem Monk won the 220 crown with a 33-second pin over Richlands’ Matthew Korabik.

The third-place wrestlers were: Dixon’s Logan Pugh (106), Jacksonville’s Mallory McDonald (113), Richlands’ Cooper Howe (120), Richlands’ Jadavin Eirich (126), Northside’s Josh Myers (132), Lejeune’s Alexander Suszko (138), Southwest’s Ezekiel Jones (145), Lejeune’s George Vrachnos (152), White Oak’s Javier Diaz (160), Jacksonville’s Razel Rainey (170), Southwest’s Thaiwon Peoples (182), Richlands’ Tristan Bird (195), Southwest’s Ethan Brown (220) and Richlands’ Cody Ogle (heavyweight).
