Veterans Cup at Ashley
Laney dominated the field at the 18th annual Veterans Cup with six wins and all 14 of the Buccaneers who competed finished in the top three Saturday.
They finished the stellar afternoon with 310 points, with Ashley’s 137.5 points good enough for second place.
Mark Samuel (106-pound), Seth Thomas (126), Connor Johnson (132), Marcus Mondragon (138), Kisaiah Ferguson (145) and Cael Willis (170) all took home first-place honors for Laney. Evan Kite (113) and Jayden Harrison (120) were both runners-up.
Other local winners were Trask’s Rogan Heath (120), South Brunswick’s Bender Sanderson (152) and Brandon Vaught (285), Ashley’s JonLuke Horne (160) and Bryce Stoklasa (182) and North Brunswick’s Carlos Meza (195).
Local teams behind Laney and Ashley in the team competition were fourth-place South Brunswick, sixth-place Hoggard, seventh-place Pender, eighth-place Trask and 10th-place North Brunswick. A total of 12 teams competed at the tournament.
