The 2018-2019 Northside Swim Team will be heading to the NCHSAA 3A East Regionals on Saturday at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary. (The Monarchs may be taking a history-making 10 swimmers competing in 3 relays and 3 individual events. UPDATE: The Monarch Relay Teams  had consideration qualifying times but UNFORTUNATELY just missed the cut of the top 24 teams (they were like 25th-26th-27th) as were 2 individual swimmers! Only Micaela Martinez will be representing the Monarchs at Regionals in the 50 & 100 Freestyle; this will be her 2nd consecutive Regional appearance!)

According to Coach Jasmine Edgren, the team had an "awesome season" with hard work and dedication improving their times in the last several meets trying to qualify for the Regionals. Starting with a small-in-numbers team and only two swimmers who had ever competed in a swim meet, the Monarch Swimmers have come a LONG way in their season.

It didn't seem to bother them finishing last as a team to much larger and more experienced swimmers in many meets, they just kept focused on improving individually; a testament to their focus, work ethic and good coaching. The team graduates only two Seniors, so hopefully with some recruiting, off-season swimming and swim camps will produce an even more eager and larger team next year. But 1st comes REGIONALS...
